About

My name is Tom Janus and this blog is dedicated to my fascination with healthy natural foods and enhancing my life through adding them into my diet and life.  You could call these healthy natural foods - Superfoods, because quite frankly these foods do several wonderful things for your body and overall well-being.

Personally, I started to get involved in healthier eating and dieting several years ago.  I never had allergies all my life and then all of the sudden a few years ago I started getting allergies on and off.  Generally speaking I was a healthy person, I worked out pretty regularly and was in good shape.  For the life of me though, I could not understand why my allergies would act up.   They would come and go regardless of the time of year.

Up until this point I ate pretty much everything under the sun, fast food, candy, junk food and on occasion good food that my mother would cook.  I began to look at what I was eating, reading the labels at the supermarket (which I never did before) and doing my research on food in general and what was good for you and healthy to eat.

Also I started studying some Traditional Chinese Medicine which helped to raise my awareness of the effects that various types of foods have on the human body.  From here on, I made a decision to begin eating healthier as well as cleansing my body internally through fasting and detoxification as well, with the goal of reaching an optimal state of health and well-being.  You can check out my other blog that I have dedication to colon cleansing health and body detoxification at: coloncleansinghealth.com

Finding out that a lot of the foods I was eating were not only completely unhealthy and held very little nutritional value, I came to the conclusion that my allergies had a lot to do with what I was eating.  The old saying, ‘you are what you eat’ began to take hold and have a lot of meaning for me. After I started reading a lot of the food labels and doing my research on a lot of food which is served in fast food establishments and even in your regular supermarket, I was in for a rude awakening.

So over the past few years I have quit eating fast food, most junk foods (I indulge with chocolate and cookies though occasionally) and have done my best to eat organic, non-gmo, fresh natural foods with no harmful additives like artificial hormones and the like.

So going through this process, I came across Superfoods.  It was a term I read about sporadically and it intrigued me.  Really, superfoods are nothing new, although the term relatively is.  The Chinese have been using superfoods for example in their culture for millenia now, even classifying certain types of common everyday food as medicinal foods to treat disease.  They even have a term for this - Dietotherapy, which an aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Other cultures around the world as well have recognized the power of food to heal as well.

I learned a lot about superfoods as well from reading about Dr. Schulze and his writings.  Dr. Schulze is a wonderful naturopathic doctor, herbalist and healer who has healed thousands of patients of so called ‘incurable diseases’ that came to him after other doctors gave them little time to live.  He has utilized various healing methods with amazing results, one  of them being using superfoods in his approaches to help his patients.

Superfoods are starting to become more popular now and are getting more and more media attention, which I think is great.  The acai berry for example, has gotten a lot of attention (especially due to Oprah) of late because of it’s amazing health and weight loss benefits.  Brazilians have enjoyed this wonderful superfood for centuries, but most Americans and others across the globe are just learning about it now.

So eating as many different kinds of powerful superfoods and adding them to our daily diets can have a drammatic effect and impact on our health.  This is what I will be writing about and giving you the best information that I find on the top of superfoods and how they can enhance your life for the better.

Sincerely,

Tom Janus
